Established in 1950 and organized by the Chicago Atheneaum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts, the GOOD DESIGN AWARD is the most historical and prestigious international award existing today, and awards designer and manufacturers for the creation of innovative and original ideas able to go beyond product and design standards.
This year, the Elle kitchen, designed by Monica Armani for Snaidero and presented at the last edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, won Good Design Award: an important result, especially because it has been awarded to Snaidero for the eleventh time, to confirm the brand’s historic capacity to combine originality and creativity, craftsmanship culture and industrial avant-garde.
Elle represents a project based on a cleaning work that the designer defines an “equation of the detail”. A project that stands out for its unmistakable care of the detail; a work between proportions and sequences of surfaces that revisits in an original way the idea of kitchen.
The protagonist in Elle is the system of aluminum sections, painted with a material finishing, that reinvent the notion of groove for the opening of recesses and drawers. The doors, protruding from the top planes make the groove more functional and easy to clean, and characterize Elle in an unequivocal way. Unmistakable, technological details, in a perfect balance for a true timeless creation.
A project of design rather than manner, made possible by the combination of details of great design craftsmanship with a strong industrial experience.
“We are proud of this new international award” comments Edi Snaidero, President of the Group “To us, it is a further proof that the path of research and product innovation through the valorization of the genius loci and of the Italian thinking on one hand and of the manufacturing competences on the other, are the winning assets to defend the peculiarity of the Made in Italy and stand out thanks to a clear strategy able to look at the future”.
