A young Russian couple with very clear ideas are the protagonists of this Design Story. We are in Spain, on the Costa Brava in Torre Valentina Calonge, a very popular tourist resort, where lived in the past great artists, like Salvador Dali. The house, an historic building that was the home of many French artists, is today the holiday home of a young Russian family with two small children. The building's architecture is very distinctive, a play of heights and volumes that make each interior space unique, from design to the smallest details. That is why the choice fell on the kitchen Ola20 by Pininfarina, designed by our partner Kook Design Studio in Barcelona through the talented designer Laura Rabal.
THE FLEXIBLE MEASURE OF EACH SPACE: AVAILABLE, UP TO THE CENTIMETER
A project very tailored, where every corner has been removed and turned into practical and usable space and the heights have been fully exploited due to the tall and wall units adjustable to cm. The use of additional-cabinets over the tall units, has freed more space for storage of all utencils and accessories with an unfrequent use. This allows to develop countless customisable solutions, with great attention paid to storage needs.
A DESIGN TO BE SHARED: AN ISLAND OF HAPPINESS, CONVIVIAL
With the contemporary evolution of the domestic space, the kitchen setting flexibly relates to the living. Ola20 discloses the whole elegant softness of its worktop, wisely drawing a space which is intelligent and convivial. The refined support element is handmade, in laminated and shaped wood, with a design that clearly shows Pininfarina's unmistakable way of designing. The peninsula table is made in the elegant Dark ash wood finish.
TO STORE SPACE AND TIME: INTELLIGENCE IS A WAVE
The problem of the optimization of the domestic space requires increasingly sophisticated and “tailored” storage solutions. Ola20 is the direct answer to this renewed need, truly at the service of users for whom time and space are valuable resources, to be enhanced. The end elements – whether they are bases, wall units or cabinets – contain practical storage compartments, easy to be accessed. Moreover, if necessary, the height of the wall units and cabinets can reach the ceiling.
MICALISED LACQUER: NEW COATING TECHNOLOGIES FOR NEW SEDUCTIVE AND TACTILE SURFACES
The choice of the owners went on lacquering mica Cement gray, that offers a unique sensory experience. Ola20, with its vocation to experimentation, brings a new technology to the kitchen, typically deriving from the automobiles sector: micalized lacquer. This innovative lacquer is obtained by making use of mica as a reflecting agent. Mica is a mineral that, if mixed with paint, creates a brilliance which is very different from that of the mere metal. The effect is, in fact, less reflective and more transparent, so that "sharper" and more elegant colours are obtained. And of no less importance is the fact that the doors and the various elements of composition are less susceptible to marks and fingerprints.
