STAINLESS STEEL

TAKE CARE: IT ISN’T INDESTRUCTIBLE!

Even stainless steel can suffer considerable damages if the necessary precautions aren’t taken. In particular, you should:

  • avoid using detergents that contain chlorine and its compounds; the use of these detergents – such as bleach, hydrochloric acid, products for unclogging drains, products for cleaning and treating terra cotta and marble, and lime-removers – can attack the composition of the stainless steel, irreversibly staining and oxidising it;

  • never leave open containers or bottles of acidic detergents or other products under the sink as their fumes can oxidise and in some cases lead to pinhole corrosion of stainless steel;

  • never leave food residues on the surface for long periods of time (for example, over the weekend or holidays), especially if they are of an essentially aggressive character (for example, lemon, cola, wine, salt, tomato); always leave your stainless steel unit clean and thoroughly rinsed;

  • noin new homes, after using the faucet for the first time, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and rinsing all stainless steel surfaces as the water tubes may contain small ferrous substances, which, if left in contact with the stainless steel, can cause oxidation;

TO KEEP STAINLES STEEL IN GOOD CONDITION

  • after use, don’t forget to clean the surface with water and neutral liquid detergent, using a soft sponge and making sure to rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cotton cloth;

  • to avoid scratching the surface, don’t use steel wool or synthetic abrasives, or powder and abrasive detergents;

  • in case scrubbing is necessary during cleaning, the motion should be parallel to the direction of the glazing to avoid noticeably scratching the surface;

  • periodically, or for stubborn stains, use products made specially for cleaning stainless steel, always following the directions on the product label that indicate how much and how to use it;

  • for lime stains, use white wine vinegar, which can be heated up if necessary, rubbing the surface in the direction of the glazing and making sure to thoroughly rinse and dry.
