GUIDE TO SURFACES

HOW TO CORRECTLY LOOK AFTER THE DIFFERENT SURFACES

LACQUERED SURFACES. Use a solution of non-abrasive neutral liquid detergent diluted in water (10-20% solution), or use concentrated detergent in the event of very dirty or greasy surfaces, applying over the entire surface with a soft sponge.  Rinse and dry immediately with a soft clean cloth. Strictly avoid the use of metal scourers, bleach, acidic detergents, solvents (such as trilene, acetone, alcohol), and any abrasive substance that could weaken the integrity of the surface.

WOOD SURFACES. Wood can be cleaned simply using a damp cloth or a cloth dipped in a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent (10% solution). Rinse and dry the wet parts using a soft, clean cloth, following the direction of the wood grain. Strictly avoid the use of metal scourers, bleach, acidic detergents, solvents (such as trilene, acetone, alcohol), and any abrasive substance that could weaken the integrity of the surface. Wax treatments or furniture polish is not required and should strictly be avoided on matt finishes (i.e. soft finish).

MELAMINE COATED AND LAMINATED SURFACES. For these surfaces use a solution of non-abrasive neutral liquid detergent diluted in water (10-20% solution), or use concentrated detergent in the event of very dirty or greasy surfaces, applying over the entire surface with a soft sponge.  Rinse and dry immediately with a soft clean cloth. Strictly avoid the use of metal scourers, acidic detergents, solvents (such as trilene, acetone, alcohol), and any abrasive substance that could weaken the integrity of the surface. Take particular care when using anti-limescale treatments and cleaners for flame diffusers. Remove wine and coffee stains and any other highly coloured or aggressive substances immediately.

STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES. There are several tips to be followed also for stainless steel surfaces: clean using specific products for stainless steel and a soft sponge, follow the direction of the satin finish, rinse and dry with a soft cloth.  Any limescale deposits can be removed using white vinegar. Strictly avoid the use of metal scourers or abrasive cleaning products, and products containing chlorine or ammonia.  Avoid prolonged contact with metal scourers, rusted metal objects, salt and acidic substances. Take care that there are no open bottles of aggressive detergents or chemical products placed in cupboards under stainless steel worktops or sinks. The emissions from these products may damage the steel.

MARBLE, GRANITE AND QUARTZ SURFACES. Carefully clean marble and granite surfaces using a damp cloth or sponge with a little non-abrasive neutral liquid detergent diluted in water. Immediately remove lemon, vinegar, wine, coffee and oil stains and any coloured or potentially aggressive products. Marble, granite and quartz surfaces are porous by nature and tend to absorb the substances they come into contact with.  Avoid the use of metal scourers, bleach, acidic detergents and abrasive substances.

SYNTHETIC MATERIALS (ECORITE, ECOTEK AND SOLID SURFACE).
Clean these materials according to the manufacturer's instructions provided with the blocks. Based on our tests and experience we can summarise these as follows:

  1. normal cleaning should be carried out using a soft sponge with water and common cream or liquid detergent;
  2. for very stubborn stains use an abrasive sponge (scotch-brite) with the same detergents, or preferably with powder detergents (i.e. Vim, Ajax, Calinda) In the event of scratches use an abrasive sponge (scotch-brite) or very fine sandpaper;
  3. remove any limescale deposits using white vinegar and scotch-brite.
